Resort Report from 7/25

Made it up to Keystone yesterday and the trails are ripping right now. Check out the trail map of the bike park.

The map has good descriptions of the trails, the newest of which is Logger's Way. They describe it as fast and flowy single track. It's wider then single track but very fast and flowy.
While only a blue this trail is very smooth and full of big tables and sweeping burms, definitely my new favorite. Expect to pin it faster then you have in a while.

Most of us are still doing resorts on Sunday, James and friends went up to Vail. So if you wanna ride, hit us up. Somebody will most likely be going to one of the many resorts.

DOT helmet sale.

We are rolling back DOT prices 30%. So come on down and check them out. If you are looking for a helmet that can work in both MOTO and DH, a DOT is the way to go. Don't worry about weight either, the new Kali's are about as light as they come.

Took the kids to the Ranch

So I went up to the Ranch with Johny and Travis to get some pics of them on their new bikes. For those who don't know the deal with these two, they are recent 20" converts that are now riding for the shop.
They were both getting comfortable with tricks on the bigger bikes and then started working on the slope course.

Sorry for the picture heavy post.

Epic 5000' vertical decent

Amy Knepper and I (Pete Knepper) headed down to Telluride for the July 4th Celebration. We met up with Dan Sharp, Erin Borg, Dan Goss, Gary Die (spelling??), and Jackie and Dante Harmony for a shuttle run down Imogene pass into Ouray. We shuttled up from the Telluride side in this guy Rick's old F-150 while simultaneously killing a 30-pack of PBR. That combined with the lack of oxygen up there kept everyone a little timid for a while. When we got to the top of the road, Jackie, Dante, and myself hiked to the top of the top to do a little free riding down the loose rocks and snow.

The weather was awesome and it was a ride like I've never done before. The feeling of being at 13,000'+ with only your bike and knowing there is only one way to go is pretty damn cool. In the end, no one got hurt, didn't have any mechanicals, and we all had a killer 4th. If you ever have a chance to do some downhilling/freeriding of this nature, don't think twice about it, just do it!

Simcik's Been Training

Hey, just wanted to post up one of my recent edits. I am getting ready to head up to Creston BC for Goatstyle, then out to the Claymore Challenge. This edit includes a few Ranchstyle Alumni, Erik Obermeyer, Chance Leigang, Austin Chipman, and me Nick Simcik. I have been working on superflips, indian air flips, tuck no flips, opposite barspins among quite a few other tricks. Take a look. Hope to see you at Crankworx Colorado!

Riding on the 4th weekend from Eric Landis

Here are some photos and video from my riding last weekend.
On Saturday I took my son Porter and dog Bosley to a little dirt jumping spot I had heard about in Grand Junction. Jumps were medium sized but there were a lot of safe jumps to choose from. A great place to learn.

Sunday Morning I decided to go for a nice ride up the Palisade Petroglyph trail.

The August issue of Decline Magazine is on the shelves and has a great article by Nick Simcik about 2010 Ranchstyle. Thanks to all our sponsors and everyone that pitched in to help us throw down another successful event.

Something interesting on Pinkbike

Hard to believe this was on Pinkbike. Made me think of James though,

"Priorities. my outlook differs a bit from the norm, This is Your Life and it is Ending one minute at a time...I am no god, just another man, lurking in the woods wth a shovel.... We Believe that god can become man to save us but man cannot become god to save himself, do as much of what you like as much as physicly possible and the life you will have, you will like." (Pinkbike user Dazem)

Shop Riding

Don't forget we're still doing shuttle rides on Friday nights and Saturday mornings. Remember to bring some tip money as gas isn't free. See you there.

We will be doing Ranch Nights only on Thursday nights from now on. Please call in advance before cruising up to the Ranch.
